Associate Professor Kevin Bartlett (English and Culture Studies major) was invited as a guest speaker by the Kobe Chapter of the Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT) at their event From Insights to Actions: A Teacher Development Event.

In his talk, Dr. Bartlett highlighted the important role of research and publishing in professional growth, academic identity, and career development. He shared insights on why educators should publish, what kinds of topics they might explore, and the standards expected at different stages of an academic career. Participants learned practical strategies for selecting suitable journals, navigating the publication process, and building a research narrative that connects teaching, research, and service.

He also discussed common challenges—such as limited time, lack of confidence, and the possibility of rejection—and offered advice on how to overcome them. The session concluded with interactive workshop activities, where participants explored how their own classroom experiences could be developed into research projects and potential publications.

Dr. Bartlett is passionate about helping fellow educators navigate the research journey and is committed to supporting the local teaching community in improving educational quality and outcomes.

ケビン・バートレット准教授（英語文化専攻）が、全国語学教育学会（JALT）神戸支部主催のイベント「From Insights to Actions: A Teacher Development Event」において、ゲストスピーカーとして講演を行いました。

講演では、研究と出版が専門的な成長や学術的アイデンティティ、キャリア形成に果たす重要な役割について述べました。また、教育者がなぜ出版に取り組むべきか、どのようなテーマを執筆できるのか、そしてキャリア段階ごとに求められる基準についても解説しました。参加者は、適切な学術誌の選び方、出版プロセスの進め方、そして授業実践を研究や学術活動と結びつける一貫した研究ストーリーの構築方法を学びました。

さらに、研究活動に立ちはだかる「時間の制約」「自信の欠如」「査読での不採択」といった課題についても触れ、それらを乗り越えるための具体的なアドバイスを紹介しました。セッションの最後には、参加者自身の授業経験を研究課題や論文へと発展させるためのワークショップ形式の活動が行われました。
