On September 6–8, Associate Professor Kevin Bartlett (English and Culture Studies major) served as a member of the organizing committee for the 34th JUSTEC Conference, held on the Mukogawa Women’s University campus. During the event, Kevin gave a presentation on a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) program he created between his fourth-year seminar students and students from Eastern Washington University.

Several of Kevin’s fourth-year seminar students also participated as volunteers, using both English and Japanese to support conference participants and to help with the overall running of the event.

Speaking about his students, Kevin said:
“They did an amazing job! I loved seeing them use both English and Japanese with participants, and I was so pleased to see their interest in some of the presentations. I am sure this will be a wonderful memory for them, and I believe that some of the knowledge they gained during the conference will help them as they work on their graduation theses. I am very proud of how they did!”

9月6日から8日にかけて、武庫川女子大学にて第34回JUSTEC(日米教員養成協議会)が開催され、本学科 英語文化専攻のケビン・バートレット准教授が運営委員として参加しました。会議では、バートレット准教授が自身の4年ゼミ生とイースタン・ワシントン大学の学生を結んで実施したCOIL（国際オンライン協働学習）プログラムについて発表もしました。

また、バートレット准教授の4年ゼミ生の一部はボランティアとして参加し、英語と日本語の両方を使って参加者をサポートするとともに、会議運営の補助も行いました。

学生について、バートレット准教授は次のように語っています。
「本当に素晴らしい働きをしてくれました！参加者と英語・日本語の両方で交流している姿を見るのがとても嬉しかったですし、いくつかの発表に積極的に関心を示しているのも頼もしく思いました。今回の経験はきっと良い思い出になると同時に、会議で得た知識が卒業論文の進展にもつながると確信しています。学生たちの頑張りにとても満足しています！」
